Ohio CASA: Free Courses
Through a partnership with the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, Ohio CASA has developed a variety of training opportunities for child welfare professionals. Continuing education and Rule 48 credits are available.
Ohio Judicial College: Free Courses
The Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College provides continuing legal and professional education for judges, magistrates, acting judges, and non-judicial court personnel to ensure the effective administration of justice for all Ohioans. In addition, the Judicial College offers education opportunities for guardians ad litem and guardians of adults. Working in partnership with all state judicial associations, the Judicial College provides continuing legal education for its members. Rule 48 credits are available.
National CASA Book & Media List
The National CASA/GAL Association offers an ongoing list of books and media sources to help improve and inspire your service to children. All items on the list were suggested by CASA staff, CASA volunteers, and supporters.
Ohio Domestic Violence Network: Ongoing Training Courses
ODVN’s purpose is to support and strengthen Ohio’s response to domestic violence through training, public awareness, and technical assistance and to promote social change through the implementation of public policy. They offer in-person training, webinars, and an extensive eLearning Network.

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network: Webinars
The NCTSN has produced dozens of webinar series, comprised of virtual presentations by expert researchers and practitioners, on various topics in the field of child traumatic stress. Most webinars are from 60 to 90 minutes in length and are available for continuing education credit.
University of Minnesota Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare: Online Modules
Consisting of videos, infographics and narrated PowerPoint presentations, these online modules will help inform and improve your practice. Our online modules are divided into two sections - CEU Eligible Courses and Public Good Courses. Courses eligible for CEUs are administered through DORS/Canvas (a University of Minnesota portal and course delivery system) and require users to register and complete a post-test. These courses are currently in development and will be available soon. Public good courses do not require registration and are not eligible for CEUs.
The Annie E. Casey Foundation Training Series: Coping with the Unique Challenges of Kinship Care
More than 139,000 children in foster care are living in kinship placements with thousands more are in informal kinship care arrangements. As child welfare systems increasingly prioritize placing children with relatives, the Casey Foundation has created a video training series — Coping With the Unique Challenges of Kinship Care — as a resource for kin caregivers and the child welfare workers who supporting them. Therapist and trainer Joseph Crumbley hosts the sessions.

No-Cost Training Resources on Kinship/Grandfamily Mental Health Needs
The resources included in this guide were developed by different organizations for various audiences, including frontline workers, organizational managers, and kin caregivers. However, all resources contain information useful to staff from a range of professional backgrounds. Most can be read, viewed, or completed in 60 minutes or less (some in less than 15 minutes). Spanish-language resources are included when available.
